For Schools
Psychological assessment to help schools understand what sits behind a student's difficulties.
Liora Psychology works collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals to understand and support a child’s learning, developmental and emotional needs.
Assessments may assist when a student is experiencing persistent difficulties despite classroom support or intervention.
Assessment may help explore
cognitive strengths and learning needs
reading, spelling, writing or mathematics difficulties
Specific Learning Disorder
attention and executive functioning
ADHD
developmental and adaptive functioning
barriers to accessing the curriculum.
Practical recommendations for the classroom
Assessment reports are designed to be useful.
Recommendations may address areas such as:
classroom adjustments
explicit teaching and intervention
working-memory supports
processing time
literacy or numeracy intervention
environmental adjustments
executive-function supports
monitoring and review.
Recommendations are developed based on the individual student rather than using a standard list of accommodations.
Working together
With parent/caregiver consent, assessment may include:
teacher questionnaires
teacher consultation
review of relevant school information and intervention history
school observations where appropriate
collaboration with other professionals.
Gathering information from relevant people around the child is an important part of comprehensive child assessment; assessment services commonly include questionnaires, teacher interviews and other stakeholder information as part of the process.
Therapy & school collaboration
Liora Psychology also provides therapy for children and young people aged 8+.
Where appropriate, and with parent/caregiver consent, I can collaborate with schools to support a young person’s therapeutic goals. This may include sharing practical strategies, discussing relevant school-based stressors or helping ensure support is consistent across home, school and therapy.
Therapy is provided directly to the child or young person and is separate from psychological assessment.
Referrals
Parents can contact Liora Psychology directly for assessment or therapy, and a formal school referral is not required.
Schools are also welcome to contact Liora Psychology with general questions about assessment options, school collaboration or whether a particular service may be appropriate.
